Mr.
Sohrab, Chief Executive, Quality Care Services Private Limited,
a
leading ISO 9000/ISO 14000/QS 9000, HACCP and Total Quality
Management consultancy organization, has Masters Degree in
Science and Post Graduate Diploma in SQC. He
was Director of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) overseeing
ISO 9000 Certification operations on all India basis and certified
over 150 companies before taking voluntary retirement and
starting Quality Care
He has long experience in standardization, product certification,
international collaboration and planning and development of
national accreditation systems. He has been engaged in the
development of perspective plans, corporate plans and five
year plans for the development of standardization, quality
management systems, certification, laboratory management and
organizational development. He was responsible for management
and execution of seven World Bank projects on standardization,
ISO 9000 and laboratory modernization. He has undergone an
intensive training in "Standardization - Management and Techniques"
by Swedish Institute of Standards, Stockholm, Sweden.
He
is registered lead Auditor with the International Register
of Certificated Auditors. He is qualified Lead Auditor for
ISO 14000 Environmental Management and HACCP food safety management
system. He is a registered Quality Assurance Instructor and
a Certified Quality Engineer with RWTuV Germany. He is also
accredited tutor by Institute of Quality Assurance,UK for
conducting Lead Auditors Courses in India. He is invited Lead
Auditor with Bureau of Indian Standards and Bureau Veritas
Quality International two leading certification bodies in
India.
As an established Lead Auditor for ISO 9000 and ISO 14000,
he has been Lead Auditor for more than 100 third party certification
audits covering a wide array of industrial and service organizations
in India . He is providing consultancy and training to several
construction, engineering, process, automobile, food and dairy,
Chemicals, textiles and service industries. He is specialising
in system re-engineering and integration of ISO 9000 and ISO
14000 systems. The
United Nations appointed him in May 1995 as Central Consultant
for establishing status of adoption of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000
in the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific
(ESCAP) region comprising 49 countries. For this he undertook
fact finding missions to 9 countries, namely, China, India,
Indonesia, Korea (South), Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines,
Thailand and Vietnam for study of national infrastructure
for implementation of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000, certification
systems and national level accreditation system for certification
bodies.
He was appointed by UNIDO in September 1995 as an International
Consultant in Quality Control, and Standardization with particular
reference to ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 for Industrial Technology
Development Study Mission in GHANA. He was also invited to
participate and make presentation on ISO 9000 AND ITS IMPLICATION
ON WORLD TRADE to a seminar on Uruguay Round WTO agreements
in Ghana.
As ESCAP consultant he conducted in-depth study of the regional
institutions for the development of "Regional Cooperative
Policy Mechanism" for transfer of environmentally sound technologies
and application of ISO 14000 in the Region in 1998. As a follow
up he is conducting National Seminars on Capability Building
for Adoption of ISO 14000 in 7 countries, namely, Bangladesh,
China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand in 1999.
He deputed by ESCAP as a advisor to Government of Pakistan
for establishment of National Accreditation Council and a
certification body for ISO 9000 & ISO 14000 for Pakistan
for overseeing certification process in that country.
Mr Sohrab had an in-depth study visit to the National Institute
of Standards and Technology, American Society for Testing
and Materials (ASTM), American National Standards Institute
(ANSI), and UL Laboratories in the United States and Standards
Council of Canada (SCC), Canadian Standards Association (CSA)
and Quality Management Institute (QMI) in Canada to study
implementation of ISO 9000, Accreditation system of certification
bodies including Environmental Management systems and testing
laboratories, operation GATT enquiry points on standards,
certification system and operation of national quality awards
schemes in these countries.
He has authored four books `ISO9000 & Food Industry',
`Quality Audit',; `Mastering ISO 9000 Requirements' and Practical
Application of HACCP in Food Industry. He has also a number
of technical papers to his credit on ISO 9000 quality systems,
certification systems, total quality management and standardization
published in national and international journals.
He was closely associated with the establishment of Quality
Council of India the national accreditation body of India
which has three National Accreditation Boards for Testing
and Calibration laboratories, Certification bodies and Quality
management personnel. He has in-depth study of national accreditation
systems in many developing countries.
