Mr. N. Srinivasan, Principal Consultant, Quality Care, was Additional Director General in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) incharge of Product certification, ISO 9000 Quality System Certification and BIS Testing Laboratories. He has a long experience in standardization, product certification and international collaboration. For the last eight years he has been engaged in training, consultancy and certification in ISO 9000 Quality Management System.

Born in 1935, he holds bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering from University of Madras. A trained quality professional from Japan, a trained Lead Auditor by British Standards Institution -Resource ,UK and registered Lead Auditor with International Register for Certificated Audirors of Institute of Quality Assurance,UK.

As Additional Director General he was overseeing operation certification activity of BIS including chain of 8 laboratories of BIS. In this capacity he was also Chairman of Purchase committee, training and human Resource development, implementation of world bank projects and implementation of ISO 9000 in the operation of BIS which included designing Corporate Quality Manual, Divisional Manuals and associated procedures.

He has been lead Auditor for over 50 ISO 9000 certification audits in different industries. He was instrumental in documenting the system of BIS certification scheme and getting International Accreditation from Raad voor de Accreditie (RVA), Netherlands.

He was closely associated with European Expert Team invited by Government of India and Interminiterial Task Forces for devising a scheme for Quality Coucil of India overseeing certification and accreditation system which has now been set up as Quality Council of India.

He has conducted a number of training programmes on ISO 9000, was involved in designing documented system, conducting internal audit and trial assessments for different industrial sectors.

He has been involved in consultancy assignments for 20 companies for designing the Quality Management System right from conception of the system till taking them to certification stage.

He has many technical paper published in leading journals on quality and quality management system. He has represented India on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) both on Technical Committees and Policy Making Bodies.
